Cancer In Our Words Writing from Cancer Patients & Survivors
"Cancer Our Words" features examples of writing from the members of my Stanford Cancer Center writing group as well as other individuals living with cancer. Each writer has given his or her permission for the work that appears on this site. All rights revert to the authors. New selections are posted periodically.
If you find that a prompt on this site inspires you to write about your cancer experience, and you would like to share it with others, contact Sharon to explore the possibility of posting it on this site.
If you don't have access to a writing group for cancer survivors and are interested in writing and sharing your experience of cancer, Sharon's books, When Words Heal: Writing Through Cancer as well as A Healing Journey: Writing Together through Breast Cancer offer suggestions and prompts for anyone who wants to write about his or her cancer experience. Both are available through www.amazon.com.
For a unique opportunity to publish poetry or prose you've written about your cancer journey, visit www.survivorsreview.org. Edited and published by Sheree Kirby, former member of my of my first "Writing Through Cancer" workshops for breast cancer survivors in Palo Alto, CA. Survivors' Review, is an online journal dedicated to the creative writing of men and women living with cancer.
